Barcelona, May 10, 2023. The UPF Barcelona School of Management has appointed Silvia Alsina as a new member of its Board of Trustees. 

The current President and CEO of Roman, one of the most acclaimed communication consultancies in the country, will bring a great deal of value to the Board thanks to her extensive professional career and her involvement in key national organizations and bodies. Silvia Alsina is also a Member of the Board of Directors of Foment del Treball’s Institute of Strategic Research and a member of Catalan Council of the AED (Spanish Association of Directors), as well as other influential and acclaimed corporations.

Speaking about the appointment, José Manuel Martínez-Sierra, the Director General of the UPF-BSM emphasized that “We are very proud to welcome Silvia Alsina to our Board of Trustees. As a business school with the dual AMBA and EQUIS accreditation, we rank among the most prestigious institutions worldwide. As such, the School’s close links with the business community are a decisive factor in its quest for excellence in training the leaders of the future”.

As a member of the Board of Trustees, Silvia Alsina will work with the other top-class professionals on the Board to design UPF-BSM’s roadmap, reinforcing the School’s real commitment to society to build a better future for everybody through business management.

“One of the key factors for working towards the transition to a more efficient and sustainable economic model is facilitating the transfer of knowledge between business schools, universities and companies. It is a privilege for me to form part of this Board of Trustees, whom I thank for their trust. I am proud to make my small contribution from one of the most respected and prestigious business schools at both a national and international”, added Silvia Alsina.

In the latest meeting of the Board of Trustees on May 3, as well as appointing Silvia Alsina, Bayer and the Barcelona Port Authority were also renewed as patrons of the UPF Barcelona School of Management.

Therefore, the Board of Trustees of the UPF-BSM is formed of senior executives of leading companies and organizations in their respective sectors: Penguin Random House, Sanofi, Bayer, Roman, Telefónica, Unilever, Fundació Naturgy, Deloitte, Fundació Cuatrecasas, Armand Basi, BASF, Ernst & Young, International Business Machines, KPMG Auditors, PricewaterhouseCoopers Auditors, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, Oracle, the Barcelona Port Authority  and Abacus.  

The business school is overseen by a Board of Trustees, which is reported to directly by the Board of Directors, the School’s ordinary representative, governance and management body, establishing the general guidelines for the running of the School. The School also has a Studies Council and International Advisory Board that are primarily consultative and advisory bodies.
