Sergi Cortiñas es Doctor en Comunicación Social por la Universitat Pompeu Fabra, licenciado en periodismo por la misma institución, y en Ciencias Químicas por la Universitat de Barcelona. Es el Director Académico del Master en Periodismo Deportivo de la UPF Barcelona School of Management.
Sergi es profesor agregado en la Universitat Pompeu Fabra, siendo sus especialidades los lenguajes y géneros informativos, las técnicas de comunicación científica y el periodismo deportivo. Sus áreas de investigación son el periodismo científico, la divulgación de las ciencias, la redacción periodística y el periodismo deportivo.
