The MNAC Appoints a Wikipedian in Residence to Improve the Museum's Online Presence

Wikipedia is one of the five most visited websites in the world, and it is often the first result that comes up in Google searches. This makes it a prime cultural dissemination tool.

The MNAC (National Art Museum of Catalonia) has announced the start of a Wikipedia project that aims to open the museum up to the public. To achieve this, the MNAC has appointed Alex Hinojo, Wikipedian and a former student of the Postgraduate Programme in Museum Management: how to make a museum work at IDEC-Pompeu Fabra University, as its Wikipedian in Residence.

Hinojo will be in charge of improving the online presence of the museum, Catalan art and the most important Catalan artists. He will also endeavour to establish a relationship between the museum and the local Wikipedian community, through a series of internal and public activities.

The creation of this post forms part of the collaborative project between the MNAC and Amical Viquipèdia, an association of Wikipedians that focuses on Catalan Wikipedia projects.
