The survey on employment of Catalan University graduates will include Master’s programmes for the first time

All public and private universities in Catalonia are to begin the fifth survey on the entrance of graduates of the Catalan University system into the labour market. The survey will be carried out through AQU Catalunya, the Agency for Quality of the Catalan University System. This year the survey group will see an increase of 50% compared to the 2011 survey, since Master’s programmes will be included in the survey for the first time. Also for the first time, international Ph.D. and Master’s students (some 3,036 people) will participate in the survey over the internet; the rest of the survey will be carried out by telephone.

The survey collects information about employment (employment/unemployment rate, time taken to find first job, ways of finding work, the work environment, employment areas, etc.), quality of work (if graduates are working in the area they studied, duties, contractual factors, job stability, annual salary, work satisfaction, etc.), and levels of satisfaction with university studies (competences acquired, usefulness in the workplace, intention to study a different degree, mobility, etc.).

The four surveys carried out have generated more than 50,000 records, meaning that Catalonia has one of the most extensive, complete and representative databases in Europe.
