Plácido Rodríguez: Observing the economy from a sporting perspective

Plácido Rodríguez, former president of Sporting. He is a professor at the Department of Economics of the University of Oviedo and Director of the Economic Observatory of Sport. He has been a lecturer on UPF Barcelona School of Management’s Master in Sports Management since it first began.  Plácido Rodríguez has made an in-depth analysis of Real Madrid’s accounts that members must approve. In his view, “what club members need to know it that the club has fallen into a negative spiral. Although selling players is a totally legitimate approach, Madrid has become a club that would not make profits or would make losses if it did not sell players”, he stated in an interview for sports newspaper AS.
