Pérez Jurado: “Assisted reproduction with the DNA of three people is necessary and reasonable”

The United Kingdom is the first country in the world in which it will be legal to conceive a human being using the DNA of three people. This technique is intended for cases such as mitochondrial illnesses, so that severe illnesses and hereditary deformations can be avoided. Experts in genetic and molecular medicine such as Doctor Luis Alberto Pérez Jurado, academic director of the University Master in Genetic Counselling at UPF-IDEC have already expressed their absolute support for UK legislation adding that “it would be more than reasonable to spread it to other countries including ours”.
