Jordi Pujol gives the keynote address at the Alumni Association Annual Meeting

On the occasion of the Alumni Association Annual Meeting at IDEC-Universitat Pompeu Fabra, which the Association organizes each year for its members, Jordi Pujol, former president of the Government of Catalonia delivered the keynote address ?The Present Juncture in Catalonia?. After the opening, on 18th December last, those present had an opportunity to network at the gala dinner.

The event concludes the series of activities carried out in 2007, which far surpassed previous years thanks to the Board?s efforts to make the Association a vital strategic tool for alumni and for the IDEC-Universitat Pompeu Fabra. During 2008, the Association will continue to work on the expansion of these activities and services. The Continuity Programme is already in its second year, with monthly lectures covering both the experience of directors and professional development issues, organized in conjunction with the Careers Department. In September, Albert Bosch, entrepreneur, adventurer and seven-time participant in the Dakar Rally, spoke to us about ?Being an Entrepreneur: the Greatest Adventure in the World?. In October, under the title ?How to Tackle the Process of Company Acquisition?, Manuel Alonso, a partner in Enrich advocats and an expert on national and international acquisition processes, explained how to prepare for an acquisition. In November, as part of UPFeina, the UPF?s job fair, Ricardo Corominas, Executive Director of Michael Page International España, spoke about the employment market under the title, ?Present State of the Professional Market for Management Positions?.

This year, the Association revamped its website, and has developed an intranet where members can consult, among other things, the networking directory and the videos of the continuity sessions. Members have also enjoyed specials at the Careers Service seminars on career evaluation, writing a résumé and preparing for interview; the programme of seminars is being expanded this coming year. Members using the professional career consultancy service will also enjoy highly favourable terms, in the form of individual work sessions, courtesy of Equipo Atlas. The Association is focused on developing more value-added services with a view to consolidating this professional value network.
