III Annual Meeting of the Advisory Council in Argentina
On 27th November of this year the Hotel Palacio Duhau-Park Hyatt in Buenos Aires hosted the third meeting of IDEC-Universitat Pompeu Fabra's Advisory Council in Argentina. Entitled "What to do with knowledge?", the session was opened by president of the Advisory Council, Jorge Pérez Alati, and chaired by Dr. Guillermo Jaim Etcheverry, president of the Fundación Carolina in Argentina. Structured around two round tables, the first presented the academic viewpoint with the participation of lecturers from prestigious Argentinean universities; the second, led by representatives of companies who collaborate with IDEC-UPF activities in Argentina, demonstrated specific applications of learning management systems in the business sector.
Of particular note were contributions by lecturers Ernesto Gore, from the Universidad San Andrés; Gustavo Lugones, from the Universidad Nacional de Quilmas; Horacio Spector, from the Universidad Torcuato di Tella; and Joaquín Tena, from the UPF. The examples of business cases presented by Vladimir de Semir, a lecturer at the UPF, were developed by representatives of Gas Natural BAN (Guillermo Ceballos), Inis-Biotech (Patricia Waisman), Novartis Argentina (Juan Miquel Thurburn), and Josep Eladi Baños, vice-rector of teaching and Academic Affairs at UPF, who presented the model of the Biomedical Research Park in Barcelona. The closing act was led by Dr. Jaume Casals, vice-rector of Teaching at the UPF, and director general of IDEC-UPF, Mr. Pau Verrié.
