IDEC-Universitat Pompeu Fabra and CV&A Consulting organise MoodleMoot 2013

MoodleMoot 2013, organised by IDEC-Universitat Pompeu Fabra and CV&A Consulting, will be held in Barcelona on the coming 26, 27 and 28 September. Moodle is the most installed Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) or Learning Management System (LMS) based on free software in the world, with over 180,000 downloads a month, 87,000 campuses registered, more than 73 million users in 239 countries and in 120 languages.  Spain is in second place in the world in the adoption and use of Moodle, only behind the United States. The Moodle community in Catalan is also one of the most active.

MoodleMoots are annual local meetings, in which experiences are exchanged, good practices are established, new products are presented, practical learning workshops are held and talks and round tables are organised on both educational and technological issues. Sponsoring companies participate with products which offer added value to Moodle-based learning environments. During 2013, there will be over twenty MoodleMoots internationally, and the one that will be held on the coming 26, 27 and 28 September in Barcelona, at IDEC’s headquarters, will be the tenth edition, coinciding with the tenth anniversary of the creation of Moodle. The presence of Martin Dougiamas, the creator of Moodle, has moreover been confirmed in Barcelona, as has that of the Director General of the Continuing Education Institute Foundation, Carme Martinell and the councillor for Education and Universities of Barcelona City Council, Gerard Ardanuy.

The Moodle learning environment ( is distributed free of charge, and is based on constructivist educational principles, with a modular design, which makes it easy to add contents and activities to motivate students and encourage collaborative learning. Most educational institutions use Moodle as a VLE, and numerous private companies and public institutions use it in departments in which training is a fundamental axis of their activity.

The session can be followed on Twitter with the hashtag: #mootes13
