Election Results in Catalonia: A Professional Mediation Style Analysis

The results of the Catalan parliamentary elections appear to have divided Catalan society into two groups. This situation gives rise to conflict and confrontation, as well as many questions about the future, how the parties should act from now on and their capacity to engage in talks and negotiate with others.

María Munné and Javier Wilhelm, the directors of the Master in Professional Mediation at UPF, are analysing the results from a stance that focuses on mediation and negotiation and are inviting the political parties and entities that have been a part of the process to choose professional mediation as a tool to create ‘a framework to promote necessary talks and negotiations to change an ‘eventual’ split into a ‘possible’ opportunity to live together.’
