Collaboration agreement with the Union of Catalan Sports Federations (UFEC)

IDEC-Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the Barcelona School of Management have formalised a collaboration agreement with the Union of Catalan Sports Federations (UFEC). The agreement, signed on 3 June, allows, among other agreements, a 10% discount to be applied to all members on the cost of registration on the Master in Sports Management and Direction, the Master in Sports Technology and the Master in Sports Journalism.

This agreement responds to one of the founding objectives of the UFEC, to collaborate and participate with public organisations and private bodies on the development and improvement of sport in general, and the objectives of IDEC-Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the Barcelona School of Management to collaborate with and support the institutions and sectors of society in order to attain their objectives of modernisation through knowledge transfer.

Master in Sports Management and Direction

The master’s programme prepares the participants to be able to successfully carry out the management and direction of any institution, club, body or company related to sport and physical activity.

A faculty closely linked to sport and with a recognised academic background, the presence in the classroom of important figures from the world of sports management and direction, a methodology based on case analysis and a decisive promotion of the development of personal skills, form the basis of the master’s programme’s academic credibility.

The master’s programme comes in eighth position in the Eduniversal Ranking, in the Masters in Sports Management category. Along the same lines, the Ranking 250 of the newspaper El Mundo (2012) places the master’s programme in second position in the specialised business masters category.

Master in Sports Technology

The master’s programme provides professional training in the conception, design and innovative use of technologies applied to sport and to physical activity (performance assessment systems, training machinery, technical sports clothing, etc.).

The master’s degree programme is developed jointly with INDESCAT, the Catalan sports industry cluster, and is taught by outstanding professionals from this sphere, businesspeople and national and international leaders in sports R&D.

Master in Sports Journalism

The master’s programme represents the opportunity to obtain extensive and specialised training in such a specific sphere of information. The programme is 100% professional, in order to develop a career as a journalist in the most solvent and demanding media.

Its teaching body is formed by outstanding lecturers from the Pompeu Fabra University’s Faculty of Communication, with the collaboration of professionals specialised in this sphere. This represents a valuable contact with the situation of the sector, to which a plan of internships in the main sports-related media is added.
