Fernando Llorca CastroFernando Llorca Castro, graduate of the   Online Master in Health Economics and Pharmacoeconomics and the Master in Health Services Administration and Management, was appointed as Health Minister for Costa Rica last month, having held the Deputy Health Minister position since October 2014.

During the formal appointment he confirmed that "It is exciting and challenging. There is a lot to do and we responsibly take the next step."

He also spoke of the transformation needed for public health, "What the country needs is a new approach to public health from the administration. From a 'police’ Health Ministry, which locks and closes premises to one accompanying the public to enforce the law. From a Ministry ‘registering' excellence and imposing many controls, to one that monitors and controls effectively."
