Cristina Morales wins the 3rd edition of the Han Nefkens-UPF-IDEC Literary Creation Grant

The jury for the 3rd Edition of the Han Nefkens Foundation Grant and UPF-IDEC (Pompeu Fabra University) have decided to award the prize to Granada-born Cristina Morales for her project ‘El buen estilo’.

The jury’s decision was based on the solidity and originality of her proposal, as well as her literary merits, creative ambition and her capacity to read critically in the present, using the mechanisms of the historical novel.

Cristina Morales has a Law degree from the University of Granada and the Nehru University of New Delhi. She has been included in several anthologies of Spanish youth fiction. The last book she had published is Malas palabras (Lumen, 2015). The grant awarded, which is unique in Spain, comprises a scholarship for €15,600, enrolment on UPF-IDEC’s (UPF) Master in Literary Creation, and publication of the winning creation by Editorial Candaya Publishing House, as well as the commitment by the grant’s promotors to purchase 500 copies. Upon hearing the outcome, Cristina Morales stated, “I wish to express my total gratitude because throughout the duration of the grant, it will allow me to calmly write my project, which explores the 19th century, the formation of the State, and those great political contradictions”,

For this third edition 140 projects had been presented.
