Albert Castellón, guest of honour at the 2014 graduation encourages graduates to be creative and stand out

The graduation ceremony brought about 1,500 graduates, family members and teachers together. Albert Castellón, the head of Moritz, was the guest of honour and gave this year’s graduation speech.

The event was chaired by Jaume Casals, rector of UPF, who was joined at the presidential table by the vice-rector of UPF Dr Mireia Trenchs, the general director of the Continuing Education Institute Carme Martinell, and the dean of UPF Barcelona School of Management, Ana Valenzuela.

Graduació 2014Albert Castellón gave a speech in which he spoke about the students as a brand to be placed on the market. In this competitive market, the 2014 sponsor encouraged students to be creative in order to differentiate themselves from those around them. The Moritz director went on to say that although his brand is not the market leader, he has been able to create value and position it in a competitive manner, just like the UPF Barcelona School of Management graduates would surely do.

Castellón urged the students not to limit themselves, closing his speech with the phrase “we did it because we didn’t know it was impossible”, and drawing applause from the entire audience.

Graduació 2014The rector of UPF, Dr Jaume Casals, who also gave an intimate and very direct speech, involving the graduates by asking them if they had been happy during their time at UPF and asking that they remain committed and connected to the university. “Your relationship with the University does not end today. We try every day to make Pompeu Fabra University one of the best universities in Europe. But Pompeu Fabra University will become whatever you become.”

The rector congratulated all UPF Barcelona School of Management graduates, wishing them every success in their professional lives and shaking their hands. “The University will always be with you”.

During the ceremony, which was presented by students from the Postgraduate Course in Public Speaking, Ricard Llauradó and Maria Victoria Pastor, the graduates received their commemorative diplomas from the academic directors. There were some moving moments, such as the showing of the Knowledge is an attitude video and speeches by Susanna Insa from the Master in Direct and Digital Marketing, and Giacomo Gasparini, from the Master in Sports Management and Talent Scholar. The celebration, sponsored by the RACC, with the cooperation of Moritz, ended in the porticoes of the patio of the University’s Jaume I building, where the attendees shared a farewell cocktail sheltered from the rain.
