The MESOL Seminar (SCRES) is intended to refresh and complete the training and knowledge of people from academia and professionals with technical and management responsibilities in the spheres of healthcare and clinics interested in the economic evaluation of healthcare technologies.
The MESOL Seminar (SCRES) offers participants an academic and independent debating and meeting forum to access important information and knowledge for decision-making on advances in health economics and pharmacoeconomics through specialised sessions taught by professionals of recognised prestige.
The MESOL Seminar (SCRES) also becomes an information and meeting platform in the framework of lifelong learning for the numerous participants who over the last few years have followed the different both classroom and distance learning master's degrees and postgraduate courses, in addition to other courses or seminars specialised in the sphere of health economics and pharmacoeconomics, organised by the UPF.
The objective of the seminar is to provide participants with the basic instruments and criteria to guide decision-making on the need to apply the different modelling techniques in the framework of studying the economic evaluation of pharmaceuticals and medical technologies.
On completing the seminar, the participants are expected to know, apply and interpret the main types of modelling techniques (Markov models and probabilistic models) in the economic evaluation of pharmaceuticals, medical technologies and health programmes.
This MESOL Seminar is composed of a classroom activity and another distance learning activity. The classroom activity consists of carrying out theoretical and practical work sessions with a duration of four days at the Barcelona School of Management. The distance learning activity consists of completing an individual practical project and another group project starting from the knowledge acquired in the classroom sessions.
Blended learning
As well as for the professionals from the Health Departments of the Autonomous Communities and of the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs, the Seminar is intended for those who perform management tasks in the public or private health sector (hospitals, insurance companies, health centres...).
