Efficiency Improvements

In the 2014–2015 academic year we completed the latest series of reforms (2008–2015) to our facilities and protocols in order to reduce consumption and CO2 emissions.

> We have set up protocols for turning on and off our equipment.

> We have replaced the air conditioning units for more efficient models.

> We have replaced incandescent and halogen lightbulbs with energy saving and LED bulbs.

As a result of these changes we have achieved an energy saving of 287,337 kW (-32%) in electricity and a saving of 7.538 m3 (-100%) in our gas usage. In terms of CO2, we have reduced our emissions by 34%.

Personal Development and CSR

The Foundation is dedicated to the personal development of the people who form part of it. During the 2014–2015 academic year, this commitment was shown by introducing a new flexible working policy and a clear pledge to support training.

Flexible Working Hours

As part of our project to transform our institution to make it more socially responsible, the new flexible working policy came into effect on the 3rd June 2015. The aim is to improve the Foundation’s employees’ work-life balance.

Training

The Foundation has an internal training program which aims to benefit workers’ professional development as well as train people and teams to meet the new challenges we face. During the 2014–2015 academic year, 75% of the Foundation’s employees took part in this program, which was assigned a total of €80,000.

The Foundation’s training plan includes master’s and postgraduate courses as well as advanced training courses both internally and outside the Foundation. It also covers language classes, leadership courses, legal compliance training, public relations and protocol courses and web analytics and positioning courses, among others.
