Combining online and on-campus classes (blended learning), the Seminar in Modelling in Economic Evaluation of Pharmaceuticals and Health Technologies at UPF Barcelona School of Management (in Spanish) will equip you with the practical skills and abilities needed to find solutions to any problems of economic evaluation in healthcare. The seminar will provide a practical exploration of concepts of decision analysis and modelling techniques for economic evaluation. The seminar will also address decision analysis models and Markov models which compare various courses of action, health programs, health interventions or complementary treatments.

The face-to-face component of the Seminar in Modelling in Economic Evaluation of Pharmaceuticals and Health Technology (blended learning) makes use of theoretical explanations and case studies published in scientific journals and takes place in UPF Barcelona School of Management over the course of four days. The distance learning component involves producing an individual practical project and a group project based on what is learned in the face-to-face sessions.

Aimed at health professionals in the public or private sphere who wish to enhance their career prospects in health economics, health evaluation or market access, the Seminar in Modelling in Economic Evaluation of Pharmaceuticals and Health Technology (blended learning) boasts a teaching staff made up of eminent lecturers from the Economics, Business and Health Sciences departments of Pompeu Fabra University.

Objectives

The objective of the seminar is to provide participants with the basic instruments and criteria to guide decision-making on the need to apply the different modelling techniques in the framework of studying the economic evaluation of pharmaceuticals and medical technologies.

On completing the seminar, the participants are expected to know, apply and interpret the main types of modelling techniques (Markov models and probabilistic models) in the economic evaluation of pharmaceuticals, medical technologies and health programmes.

Who is it for?

This seminar is targeted at professionals from the private and public sector, and also at professionals from the health sector interested in leading their career towards health economics, financial evaluation, market access, etc.
