Official degrees are issued by UPF and have the academic recognition of the Ministry of Education of the Government of Spain.

Our own degrees are issued by UPF and do not have the academic recognition of the Ministry of Education of the Government of Spain.

The international prestige of the Pompeu Fabra University guarantees the quality of the courses taken, whether the degrees are official or its own, due to its recognition and academic excellence.

Master's degrees are higher than postgraduate degrees and have a duration of 60 ECTS or more. To access a master's degree, you need to have previous university studies, equivalent to a bachelor's degree.

Postgraduate courses are specific programs of shorter duration than master’s. They last for less than 60 ECTS and to access them you need to have previous university studies, equivalent to a bachelor's degree; although certain programs can also be accessed due to the student's professional experience.

The courses are short programs or intensive training, for which it is not always necessary to have previous university studies.

UPF-BSM offers different study modalities so that you can choose the option that best suits you.

  • The on-campus modality requires the physical attendance of students and teachers in our classrooms.
  • The blended mode has part of the content in our classrooms and the other part online.
  • The on-campus&Live modality offers the possibility of choosing to take the classes totally face-to-face or totally remotely. In the programs in which this modality is offered, students must choose how they will follow their program during the admission process.
  • The online modality does not require students to be present in the classroom, and combines synchronous and asynchronous sessions depending on the program.

You can filter our programs by modality in our search engine: https://www.bsm.upf.edu/en/studies

At UPF-BSM we offer different programs in various languages: Spanish, English, and in some cases, we offer sessions or itineraries in Catalan.

The specific requirements of the language level that we demand for each program are described in the "Admission and Enrolment" section of the page of each course.

ECTS credits or European Credit Transfer System is the mechanism designed to homogeneously structure degrees within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). They represent the volume of academic work that a student must complete to finish their studies. One ECTS credit is equivalent to 25 hours, which includes both the time devoted to lectures and hours of personal study, tutorials, seminars, assignments, practices, or projects, as well as the hours required for the preparation and completion of exams and evaluations.

More information can be found on the official website of the European Commission.

We are the management school of the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) and we share its recognition and orientation towards excellence in teaching and research.

UPF is distinguished by the Ministry of Education as a Campus of International Excellence (CEI) and, according to the THE ranking, it is the 1st ranked Spanish university and the 10th best university in the world among those under 50 years of age (5th in Europe).

In addition, our programs have a great reputation internationally. In 2020 we became one of the ten centres institutionally accredited by the Quality Agency of the University System of Catalonia (AQU), thus endorsing the educational quality of all our university degrees.

In 2021 we obtained the AMBA accreditation that places us among the world's leading management schools according to the Association of MBAs, recognizing the academic quality of our EMBA and Master of Science in Management programs.

Also in 2021 we obtained the 4th Palma of Excellence in the Eduniversal ranking, which classifies us as a school with international influence according to Eduniversal, a global classification and rating agency specialized in higher education.

  • In cases where a visa is denied due to the student's own negligence.

There is more information in Section 3 of our General Conditions.

UPF-BSM offers different scholarships to facilitate access to our studies. If you are interested in applying for any of our scholarships, you must do so at the time you request admission, as once you have been admitted or enrolled, an application for a scholarship will not be possible.

You can consult the different scholarships available in the section "Scholarships and Financing" within the program that you are interested in.

You can check what discounts are available in the "Scholarships and Financing" section on the page for each program.

Once admitted, you can request a discount on the eRegistrar platform before completing your enrolment.

Yes, all of our programs of 15 ECTS or more allow for internships in companies, organizations, or public bodies.

The hours of internship depend on the number of ECTS of each program, always within a range of 400 to 1200 hours.

Yes. We have a Job Bank where you can look for professional opportunities.

The document for formalizing an internship agreement must be electronically signed by three parties: by us (the School), by the company, and by you (the student). The processing of the agreement is carried out by the Professional Careers Service.

The curricular internships are compulsory; they are part of the academic load of a program and are evaluated as a subject. In addition, they must be connected to the field of study of the program, they must be carried out in the period established by the academic plan of the program, and in some cases they can be recognized by proving previous professional experience.

On the other hand, extracurricular internships are not part of the academic load and are not evaluated. Thus, they are voluntary and complementary to studies, although they must also have a connection with the field of study of the program, and must be carried out within the period established in the program.

All students in programs of at least 15 ECTS have access to our Job Bank. You can access it through the JobTeaser platform 30 days before the start of the program and up to 1 year after its end.

You can find the different professional opportunities in the "Professional Opportunities" section on the page of each program.

The Professional Careers Service will support and advise you at all times, and you can receive individual advice from your Career Advisor.

In addition, the Professional Careers Service has the Talent UP professional development program, through which you can find activities, workshops, and events aimed at enhancing your professional profile within the world of work.

International students who do not have European nationality or a European passport must apply for a student visa at the Embassy or Consulate of Spain in their country.

The student visa allows entry into Spain during the study period. We recommend that all students who require a visa apply for admission to their program 90 days before the start of their classes; visa procedures can take time.

Once you are enrolled, you will have access to the Student Classroom, where you will find more information on how to process the student visa.

International students from the EU, who belong to the Schengen group of countries, do not require a student visa to study our programs.

Once in Spain, if you are a foreign student (whether you are from the EU or outside the EU) you must apply for a NIE.

The NIE is a personal identification number for foreign citizens, which is needed in order to carry out a large number of procedures as a temporary resident in Spain.

The TIE is an identification card for foreigners and is the document that you will receive once you have completed the NIE application procedures.

Once you are enrolled, you will have access to the Student Classroom, where you will find more information on how to obtain the NIE and TIE.

We do not have accommodation on our campuses. Each student is responsible for finding their own accommodation during their stay in Barcelona.

However, once you are enrolled, you will have access to the Student Classroom where you will find information about accommodation and contacts of interest.

International students from outside the EU must take out medical insurance that covers the entire time of their studies. You can find more information on how to get medical insurance in the Admission Pack, once you have been admitted, as well as in the Student Classroom, once you are enrolled.

However, if you are an international student from the EU, belonging to a country in the Schengen group, you must apply for the European health card in order to be treated by public health services during your stay in Spain.

Once you are admitted, within the Admission Pack you will find all the necessary steps to legalize the academic record and the diploma of your university studies before your arrival in Spain. Remember that all students must submit this documentation in order to start the program.

In order to contain and control the infection of the new coronavirus, we have established a series of measures, in accordance with the indications of the competent health authorities.

As a general rule, only those students and teachers who have scheduled face-to-face classes can access our building. However, no person can enter if they have symptoms or have been in contact with people who have symptoms compatible with COVID-19.

In addition, it is also mandatory to disinfect your hands when entering the building and to carry out a frequent cleaning protocol, as well as to wear a mask inside the building and maintain a safety distance of 1.5 metres from other people.

Yes, currently to avoid queues, guarantee everyone's safety, and control capacity, you must make an appointment here. We are available from Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.

You can also contact us by writing an email to s.academica@bsm.upf.edu or by calling 93 547 58 66.

Yes, as long as you maintain the safety distance of 1.5 metres with respect to other people who circulate in the same area.

You can also use the elevator, as long as you wear a mask and the journey is individual.

The health measures that we adopt at UPF-BSM are aimed at avoiding concentrations of people at specific times in order to guarantee everyone's safety.

Yes, both the cafeteria and services reopened at the beginning of this course 2021–22. The COVID-19 regulations must be followed in all areas of the campus; you will find them indicated on signs throughout the building.

Whether you are a student or a teacher, if you suspect that you have been infected with COVID-19, you must notify the academic director or the academic manager of the program. Then, you must notify your symptoms to your Primary Health Care Centre or by phoning 061, and follow the instructions of the health authorities.

For our part, the program director will contact the program manager to evaluate any contacts you may have had. Consequently, we will inform the other students to take every precaution and monitor for possible symptoms.

If you belong to a high-risk group, inform the course manager before coming to the building.
