Online Master in Health Economics and Pharmacoeconomics

Methodology

Technical requirements

PC with camera and microphone. The camera and microphone will be needed for the defense of the term paper in the last module.

The Online Master in Health Economics and Pharmaeconomics will be taught in a virtual learning environment. This involves a specific teaching methodology, with intensive use of the virtual classroom and appropriate evaluation mechanisms.

The virtual classroom where the course will be taught is based on the following elements: All the documents used will be available throughout the course in the form of web pages that can be consulted on the Internet.

Participants will also be able to download a printed version of the contents, so they will be able to do most of the course work off line if they wish.

Communication between teachers and participants will be based on debates and the private course e-mail.

The teaching method used during the course will be based on case studies and participation in discussion forums. All the topics in the programme will be complemented with a number of self-assessed multiple-choice questions.

Each module will have a duration of eight weeks. Each of its teaching units will last two weeks.

Evaluation

The assessment of each module will take place as follows:

  • Participation in the discussion forum of each teaching unit.
  • In order to pass each module, participants must pass at least 3 teaching units out of a total of 4. A test will be deemed to have been passed if the participant correctly answers a minimum of 6 out of 10 multiple-choice questions (or an equivalent figure if the number of questions is not 10). The average mark for each module will be calculated as the average of the marks obtained in the 4 teaching units.
  • The participant will have a second and final opportunity to either pass or improve the grade of each teaching unit.
