Welcome ceremony to the first students studying during academic year 2015/16
- General director, Carmen Martinell, and university dean, Daniel Serra welcomed the students as activity began on the first masters and postgraduate courses.
Monday 21 September marked the start of the academic year 2015/16, with the welcome ceremony for the first students studying masters and postgraduate courses, which correspond to the masters in Sports Management, Marketing, Direct and Digital Marketing, Pharmaceutical Marketing, and Video Game Creation, which were the first to begin academic activity. “We feel proud that you have chosen Pompeu Fabra University to continue developing your professional training”, general director, Carmen Martinell told them.
Meanwhile Daniel Serra, UPF Barcelona School of Management’s dean, presented them to the respective academic directors and gave a talk about the complexity of today’s economic climate and the enormous challenges that businesses and new professionals face for the future. “Big Data is the great challenge to businesses and organizations in our country” he stated, reminding them that the enormous quantity of data available these days now enables the business world to develop quantitative and analytical models and thereby greatly improve productivity”. This scientific, critical and analytical management is precisely the contribution that Pompeu Fabra University wants to provide to the different professionals that train at this institution.
Information was also available at the ceremony about the services and support provided by the Professional Career Service and Academic Affairs, and concluded with a networking session in which the students could get to know each other and exchange first impressions with their academic directors and coordinators.
UPF Barcelona School of Management offers over 50 further education programs related to the three areas of expertise in which Pompeu Fabra University has always specialized: social and human sciences, health and life sciences, and communication and information technology sciences.
