and International Studies.
The QS World University Rankings is produced each year by Quacquarelli
Symonds (QS) and is one of the most prestigious rankings. It assesses
over 2,000 institutions, including 700 universities from all over the world. Scores are
calculated based on six main indicators: academic reputation
(40%), employer reputation (10%), number of SciVerse Scopus citations per
faculty member (20%), faculty member-student ratio (20%), proportion of international
students (5%) and proportion of international faculty members (5%).
These indicators are used to produce an overall ranking,
as well as specific rankings for different subject areas, specifically: Arts
and Humanities; Engineering and Technology; Life Sciences and Medicine; Natural
Sciences; and Social Sciences.
Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) produced its first university ranking in 2004 in
conjunction with the Times
Higher Education Supplement. Since 2010 QS has drawn up the ranking independently,
that is, without the collaboration of the THES.
