The Master of Science in International Business visits two Catalan companies that have expanded internationally
Yesterday, 3 May, students from the Master of Science in International Business visited the companies Cafès Novell and Covides Viñedos-Bodegas in order to gain first-hand knowledge about their international operations.
At Cafès Novell, Manel Ortiz, Head of International Sales, and Manel Batet, Training and Communication Manager, gave them a presentation on the company, contributing interesting information about the international business sector and the company’s position in the global market. During the 90s the company increased its facilities and began its expansion into the Spanish market. In 2011 the first international branch was opened in Italy and recently they have opened new branches in Hong Kong, the United States and the United Kingdom. Today it is present in international markets in three forms: through subsidiaries, joint ventures and distribution agreements.
At COVIDES Viñedos-Bodegas, the students attended a presentation given by Christophe Marquet, which showed how the business has evolved since the year 2005. They ended the activity with a visit to the wineries and the production line, topping the day off with a wine tasting. It is the leader of cooperative wine production in terms of volume with an annual harvest of 24,000,000 kg of grapes. Today, 55% of the bottles of wine they produce are exported to 30 different countries and the rest are sold in Spain.
