Pompeu Fabra University inaugurates the Gutenberg Campus for Communication and Scientific Culture

On 14 and 15 September at the Communication Campus of Pompeu Fabra University
(UPF) the first edition will take place of the Gutenberg Campus, a summer school
aiming to promote the various channels and formats currently used to foster
culture and scientific disclosure in all fields: the media, social networks
and 2.0 webs, blogs, comics, the publishing world, education circles, cinema,
museology, public and institutional communication, etc., and to reflect on
the changes occurring and new work opportunities appearing in the area. The
campus will be bilingual and will basically focus on activities carried out
in Catalonia, although the participation is envisaged of professionals and
guests from throughout the country.

The initiative, brought about by the Observatori de la Comunicació Científica
(OCC-UPF), the Master's in Scientific Communication IDEC-UPF and the Obra Social “la
Caixa”, has been created with the intention of becoming a yearly fixture serving
as a meeting point for all those working in the field of communication and
the disclosure of science, with particular emphasis on the new generations
of professionals, so they might become familiar with the activities being carried
out in this sector and come into contact with those who have already been in
the area for some time. Therefore, it is aimed at journalists, communicators,
educators and professionals from within the sector, as well as alumni and new
students on the Master's in Scientific Communication IDEC-UPF, and students
from other disciplines related to and/or interested in the disclosure of science.

The programme will include a wide range of activities –discussions, round
tables, films and theatre sessions, open air acts, conferences, etc.- to take
place in parallel, as well as workshops and various activities of a cultural
and recreational nature. Several rooms will also be reserved for group meetings
and networking with participants and guests.

Registration is free of charge, and is open from the end of June until mid-September
through the web page of the Gutenberg Campus, to be set up shortly.
