New management structure at IDEC

In June, the rector of UPF and president of IDEC proposed to the IDEC Board a new management structure for the foundation, consisting of the appointing of an executive vice-president as the highest institutional representative and a managing director, to assume all executives responsibilities at the head of the IDEC Management Committee.

On 16 July the lecturer Jaume Casals was appointed as executive vice-president. Previously, from 2001-2005, Jaume Casals was vice-rector of postgraduate studies at UPF and vice-president of IDEC. From 2005-2009 he was a board member, and member of the governing and study boards, and therefore his connection to IDEC has been continuous and intensive in recent years. Since 2009 he has been vice-president and president of the Study Board. In addition, Carme Martinell was appointed managing director of IDEC. Carme Martinell, with a telecommunications engineering degree and PDG from IESE, joined IDEC in 2001 to take on various roles on the Board of Directors. Her previous experience includes collaboration with the COOB'92 and at Hewlett Packard from 1992-2001.
