Jaume Puig-Junoy analyses the health care deficit
The director of the Master in Health Care and Medication Economics (online), writes about the health care deficit in an article entitled ?The (pseudo-) health care deficit? published in El Periódico newspaper on 3rd February. The director of the UPF Health Care Economics Research Centre states that ?two out of every three euros overspent respond to factors which are influenced by management?.
In his article, Puig-Junoy points out that ?we need to mitigate two main problems: the absence of service coverage criteria and health care purchasing criteria based on the results of health care, as well as the lack of financial responsibility of almost all the agents involved.?
Jaume Puig-Junoy is director of the Master in Health Care and Medication Economics (online) and of the International Master in Health Economics and Pharmaeconomics (online) and lecturer in the Department of Economics and Business at Pompeu Fabra University. Puig-Junoy is director of the UPF Health Care Economics Research Centre.
