In modern and socially developed societies your education does not end on obtaining a university degree. The world is evolving rapidly, at the dizzying pace marked by progress in all scientific and technologic fields. Therefore, and in order to successfully confront the future challenges, it is essential to participate in lifelong learning.
The postgraduate programmes offered at Pompeu Fabra University, of a cross-curricular and interdisciplinary nature, incorporate a wide range of official postgraduate studies with master's and PhD programmes, and short- and long-term master's and PhD programmes for professional development. From the outset the UPF has shown a strong commitment to all aspects of academic excellence, closely linked to a cutting-edge policy within the research area.
The Fundació Privada Institut d'Educació Contínua, established in 1993, is the Pompeu Fabra University's instrument for the development of lifelong learning aimed at professionals closely connected to the world of business.
The IDEC and the Barcelona School of Management offer a natural continuity of the participants' university postgraduate and refresher studies necessary for the development of their professional activity.
Since 2010, the UPF has promoted the creation of the Barcelona School of Management in order to take one step forward in the internationalisation of training in business leadership and management and public management, focusing on the people who will develop the new economy of the 21st century. The Barcelona School of Management offers MScs, MBAs, master's degrees, executive education and tailored training within the business management and public administration sectors.
This internationalisation is also the objective of IDEC-Pompeu Fabra University for specialised studies within the following sectors: law, cultural management and information and telecommunication management, health and social welfare, language and translation, innovation and education sciences, communication and journalism, communication and audiovisual media, advertising and corporate reputation and creativity in digital media.
In the coming years, the Barcelona School of Management and IDEC will intensify their work together with companies and institutions, will increase their international scope -especially in English-speaking countries, Mediterranean countries and in Latin America-, will promote the MSc programmes and maintain their academic excellence while continuing to play a core role in the training of the professionals required in society.
