1. Scope:
The present general conditions apply to all programmes taught at IDEC and the Barcelona School of Management, owned by the Continuing Education Institute-Pompeu Fabra University Private Foundation (hereinafter IDEC Private Foundation).
In addition to the present general conditions, some further conditions may apply to certain programmes.
2. Requirements:
• University-specific Master's and postgraduate programmes:
Students must provide proof of a university degree (degree, engineering or architecture qualification or university-specific degree), or other higher education qualification (diploma, engineering technician, architectural technician or university-specific qualification).
Exceptionally, in certain programmes, candidates without the required university qualifications may be accepted onto courses by virtue of their professional merits. In this case, their acceptance onto the programme will be assessed and the qualification awarded will be decided.
• University Master's:
Access: these courses may be accessed by students who meet the general access requirements established by the current regulations (Royal Decree 861/2010, of 2 July, which modifies Royal Decree 1393/2007, of 29 October), as well as the specific requirements of the relevant Master's, as applicable.
Admission: please consult the specific admission requirements for each programme.
• Other programmes:
Admission: please consult the specific admission requirements for each programme.
3. Presenting documentation:
Definitive admission onto any programme is dependent upon the verification of the documents presented, for which reason original copies of the requested documents must be presented on formalising registration or at the very latest before the beginning of the programme.
Students are responsible at all times for the veracity of the information presented.
If any doubts exist as to the authenticity, validity or content of the documents presented, the necessary procedures shall be undertaken to confirm the information and the relevant issuing authority may be contacted in order to provide validation.
4. Enrolment:
• University-specific Master's, University Master's and Postgraduate Programmes:
All students must undergo an admission process, the outcome of which shall be communicated in writing.
In order to commence this process, applicants must pay the relevant enrolment fee, which will always be discounted from the total registration fee. This fee will only be returned if the programme is cancelled or if the application is rejected . For the 2012-2013 academic year the fee is € 120 , unless otherwise stated.
• Other programmes:
Check the information relating to the programme in question.
5. Deposit:
For programmes with 30 ECTS or more, and except in the case of programmes for which other information is specified, students must pay 25% of enrolment fees in order to reserve their place, and the payment must be made a maximum of 15 days after the admission.
6. Registration:
The full registration fee must be paid before the beginning of the course. Registration only becomes valid upon payment of the full registration fee. Until that time, registration on the programme is understood to be provisional and not valid for requesting any type of certificate or for obtaining the qualification.
Changes to the registration: Under no circumstances may changes be made to the registration more than 15 days after the beginning of the programme. Requests presented after this deadline will not be processed. Changes to the registration for programmes of less number of credits will not be subject to any refund.
Discounts: Students whose registration fee is eligible for a discount must request it before payment of registration fees; under no circumstances may discounts be applied subsequently.
7. Nature of payments:
Payments made before formalising the registration are personal and non-transferrable.
8. Refunds:
TheIDEC Private Foundation will refund the registration fee (retaining 10% of the cost of the programme to cover administration costs) if the student cancels their registration up to one week before the beginning of the programme.
9. Cancellations:
The IDEC Private Foundation reserves the right to cancel programmes up to one week before the beginning of the course if the minimum number of students is not met , with no obligation other than that of returning the fees paid.
10. Modular programmes:
• University-specific Master's and Postgraduate Programmes:
If a student registers for each of a programme's modules separately, the maximum period for completing the programme is three years, except when the programme explicitly states a different time period.
• University Master's:
Modular registration is not possible.
11. Internships:
• University-specific Master's and Postgraduate Programmes:
If internships are offered, applicants must express their interest in taking part upon formalising their enrolment.
• University Master's:
Check the information relating to the programme in question.
12. Grants:
Check the specific regulations referring to grants.
13. Successful completion:
To be awarded the qualification, students must attend a minimum of 80% of the teaching sessions, pass the relevant tests and submit the required work .
14. Issuance of qualifications:
• University-specific Master's and postgraduate programmes:
Qualification certificates will not be issued to students who, having successfully completed the programme, have not presented the required documents or are not up to date with the payment of the registration fees. If students do not present said documents by the date given, they will be required to pay €200 in order to process the qualification after the deadline.
Students are entitled to receive the qualification certificate corresponding to the programme for which they register. Once they have successfully completed the programme, they may request to be awarded any other certificate to which they are entitled as a result of it forming part of the programme studied. Each additional qualification certificate will be subject to an issuance fee of € 160 (including VAT) .
Copies of qualification certificates will be subject to an issuance fee of € 70 (including VAT)
Legalisation of qualification certificates is subject to a fee of € 38 (including VAT) .
The sending of qualification certificates by registered post for face-to-face and blended learning programmes will be subject to a fee of €10 (including VAT) to cover administration costs.
• University Master's:
The amount stipulated in the current regulations must be paid in order to issue the qualification certificate.
15. Issuance of qualification certificates:
• University-specific Master's and Postgraduate Programmes and other activities:
Standard academic certificates will be subject to an issuance fee of € 25 (including VAT) . The first certificate of registration or successful completion will be issued free of charge. Any certificate requested outside of the standards established by the IDEC-Pompeu Fabra University Private Foundation will be subject to a fee of € 45 (including VAT) . Requested certificates will be issued on confirmation of payment of the specified fee. The deadline for issuing certificates will be four working days, except in the case of grades, which will be issued within seven working days of payment of the specified amount .
Each additional copy of certificates will cost € 6 (including VAT).
• University Master's:
Given the time taken to issue the official certificates for University Master's, once the information relating to the academic transcript is available, a certificate will be issued, at no additional cost, certifying that the student has successfully completed the programme. Only once the student has paid the issuance fees may it be stated that they possess the relevant qualification.
16. Ongoing student status:
• University-specific Master's and Postgraduate Programmes:
If the student does not successfully complete the course, they may take two additional assessments, one for each course. They must have passed a minimum of 50% of the programme's credits in order to access these two additional assessments.
• University Master's:
Students must have passed a minimum of 50% of the credits corresponding to the subjects taken in the first year of the Master's.
Students may take two additional assessments per subject, one for each course. It may also be possible to take a third extraordinary assessment by sending a request to the Rector of Pompeu Fabra University. Said request must be presented, together with documentary justification of the reasons contained therein, within a maximum of 15 days after being notified of the final grades.
17. Repeat registration:
• University-specific Master's and Postgraduate Programmes:
If students do not successfully complete the programme within the established academic year, the repeat registration fee for the following academic year will be € 200 (including VAT) ; for online programmes, this fee will be € 50 (including VAT) . In addition, students must pay the proportional amount corresponding to the credits pending completion.
• University Master's:
If students do not successfully complete the programme within the established academic year, the repeat registration fee for each of the two subsequent academic years will be € 300 (including VAT); for online programmes, this fee will be €100 (including VAT) . In addition, students must pay the proportional amount corresponding to the credits pending completion, as well as the amount for issuance of the qualification stipulated in the current regulations. These fees will also apply in the event of validation and/or recognition.
• Advanced courses and other programmes:
If students do not successfully complete the programme within the established academic year, the repeat registration fee for the following academic year will be € 50 (including VAT) . In addition, students must pay the proportional amount corresponding to the credits pending completion.
18. Development of activities:
In the event that a participant, during the course of the academic activity required by the programme, either alone or with others, produces a project, work or does work likely to be protected in accordance with the existing regulations regarding Intellectual Property under the direction, co-ordination or supervision of the teaching staff on the programme, they:
• Undertake to comply with IDEC's internal intellectual property Policy, which they have read and understood (*).
• Undertake to include the following mention in the credits or in a visible place on the protected work or service: An initiative on the XXXX XXXXX programme by Universitat Pompeu Fabra."
• Authorises Fundació IDEC to use the protected work or service for teaching or promotional purposes, in the context of Fundació IDEC programmes, as well as the use of the name and image of the author or co-authors of the same.
In the event that participants, during the course of the academic activity required by the programme, either alone or with others, produces a project, work or service liable to be marketed or used in activities of third party organisations, an agreement must be reached between the participant and IDEC to regulate the conditions of marketing or use, always pursuant to Fundació IDEC's internal Policy in this respect.
(*)FUNDACIÓ IDEC INTERNAL POLICY ON INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY IN PROGRAMMES OF CREATION
Fundació IDEC carries out its activity in the sphere of teaching, including the creation of contents subject to intellectual property rights, to which it applies its internal intellectual property policy in relation to the resultant works, of which it becomes the exclusive owner due to the assignment by the authors, the scope of this assignment being absolute and exclusive and its timescale and territorial sphere being the maximum indicated by the intellectual property law. The creation likewise covers all the forms of exploitation on any medium.
Fundació IDEC recognises the moral rights of the authors and grants the authors a non-exclusive licence of the broadest scope to manage the work, exploiting it commercially worldwide and with the greatest timescale, fully benefiting from any economic returns generated by this exploitation.
The students who enrol on programmes with creation of contents liable to be exploited commercially on academic projects at the heart of the Fundació IDEC accept Fundació IDEC's intellectual property policy in relation to the WORK which they declare they know and understand.
19. Personal data protection:
We hereby inform you that the personal information you provide the private institution INSTITUT D'EDUCACIÓ CONTÍNUA (henceforth referred to as Fundació IDEC) in this form, as well as the information we are given during our contractual relation as student or former student, will be compiled in a computerized data file and will be used by Fundació IDEC, either directly or through collaborating entities, in order to proceed with the appropriate administration, preparation and monitoring of the course, including the issuing of qualifications and the administration of external work practices in companies where available, as well as the administration of fees payments and collection by Fundació IDEC when necessary and all matters derived from your position as a student or former student at Fundació IDEC. In addition, your data will be used to send you information about Fundació IDEC services which may be of interest to you. This information will be sent electronically to your contact addresses and numbers, including e-mail and text messages, always in compliance with the existing regulations regarding electronic communications. In addition, you will grant Fundació IDEC permission to provide its Alumni Association and Universitat Pompeu Fabra with your personal details for academic and administration purposes pertaining to these entities, as indicated above. In compliance with Organic Law 15/1999, regarding the Protection of Personal Data, (LOPD), and with Regulation 1720/2007, we inform you that the private foundation known as Fundació IDEC, located at Carrer Balmes 132-134, Barcelona (Spain), is the final recipient of this data and will decide on the purpose, content and use of the treatment of the personal information we are provided with. However, you may exercise your rights to access, rectification, cancellation and opposition regarding your data in legal terms by contacting the Fundació IDEC Information Department at the above address. Additionally, you will give your express authorization to Fundació IDEC for recording and reproducing your personal image, always in connection with your academic relation with Fundació IDEC, in the reproduction or public communication of videos or photographs in corporative Fundació IDEC publications used to promote academic activities on the part of Fundació IDEC. You may withdraw this authorization at any moment by referring this question in writing to the Fundació IDEC Information Department at the above address.
