The transformation of the economy: implications for education
Skills are today the new currency in a changing economy, increasingly affected by globalization and automation. However, which skills are already the most sought after in advanced economies and why? What demands are being made on educational policies and what reforms would be needed? What are the implications for equity and quality?
In this conference, we will know the answers to these questions with Francesc Pedró, who has been working in UNESCO's education sector in Paris since 2010, where he leads the advisory service in educational policies. Previously, he worked at the OECD Center for Educational Research and Innovation (CERI) where, as a senior political analyst, he was responsible for projects such as Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) and New Millennium Learners Project. Francesc is a professor of comparative education policies in the department of political science at the Pompeu Fabra University. Some of his most recent books are Connected Minds. Technology and Today's Learners (2012) and Le numérique: une chance pour l’école (2013).
